Sustainability — Our Commitment to the Environment
Our Commitment to the Environment
Natural cleaning shouldn't cost the earth. Here's what we do differently.
The problem with most cleaning products
A typical Australian cleaning cupboard contains 12–20 different products. Most are more than 90% water. You're not just paying for water — you're paying to have that water shipped in a single-use plastic bottle from a factory to a warehouse to a supermarket to your home, just to be poured down the drain.
It's an enormous amount of packaging waste, carbon emissions, and synthetic chemicals entering our waterways for products that do, fundamentally, the same job.
The Orange Kleen approach
Concentrate first
Our 1L concentrate replaces 33 bottles of ready-to-use cleaner. That's 32 fewer plastic bottles per household, per purchase. Fewer bottles means less plastic, less packaging, less weight to ship, and a smaller carbon footprint end to end.
One product, every room
The concentrate works on every surface in your home. You don't need a separate bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, floor cleaner, window cleaner and degreaser. One bottle replaces the lot. Less product variety means less chemical diversity entering your home and leaving through your drains.
Biodegradable formula
Every ingredient in Orange Kleen concentrate is biodegradable. Orange oil (d-limonene) breaks down naturally in the environment. Our surfactants are plant-derived and do not persist in soil or waterways. This makes Orange Kleen safe for greywater systems, septic tanks, and garden runoff.
No synthetic chemicals in waterways
Chlorine, bleach, ammonia, phosphates and synthetic fragrances from conventional cleaners accumulate in waterways and harm aquatic ecosystems. Orange Kleen contains none of these. What goes down your drain is citrus oil, plant-derived surfactants, and water — the same things found in nature.
Microfibre, not disposable wipes
Our microfibre cloths and mop pads are designed to last hundreds of washes. They replace single-use paper towels and disposable wipes. One microfibre cloth does the work of hundreds of paper towels — and leaves no paper waste.
What we're working toward
- 100% recycled and recyclable packaging across the full product range
- Carbon-neutral shipping partnerships
- GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) certification
- B-Corp certification
The simple version
Buy less. Use concentrate. Refill. Repeat. That's the most sustainable cleaning routine there is — and it costs you less money too.
